We are a fully remote team spread across different countries and time zones. Our organization is human-centered and purpose-driven, and we give back to causes that are dear to our hearts. We do our best to live what we preach and emphasize developing and optimizing our own business and culture, seeking continuous improvement in everything we do.

Our Values
Be open-minded and inclusive.
Diversity, it’s like an ingredient, of course, you can cook with just salt and pepper, but cooking with a whole spicy cabinet puts you in an entirely different league. We are open to embracing everyone’s uniqueness and new ways of thinking and being. We say no to discrimination of any sort.

Recognizing that everyone around us is human allows us to connect to others in a different way, regulate our expectations, to be more understanding of everyone’s needs and differences. This is valid in our relationship with others and in our relationship with ourselves.

We believe the way to make progress and help the world evolve is through challenging what is and making it better. Going out of our comfort zones to not only survive but also thrive is what we do.

We spend enough time at work, so why not have fun while at it? We allow ourselves to explore our creativity and originality in the way we work to make sure we are doing it in a way that benefits the whole team, the organization, and our stakeholders and makes us happy.

Working as a team enables everyone to share their ideas, increases innovation, and creates a sense of belonging in the workplace. All of this in turn helps reduce stress, adds novelty to the daily work routine, and allows everyone to learn new things and explore new skills. We do experience that together we achieve better results than when working alone.

We believe there needs to be more to businesses than just profit and that it is our responsibility to give back to society and dedicate part of our efforts to benefiting the whole. This goes beyond the work we do every day as we also support causes that are dear to our hearts both financially and with our time.

There is always room for improvement. We always seek to do things better the next time and are open and receptive to developing our hard skills, soft skills, and ourselves as humans. We rely on our self-awareness but also on the feedback, support, and input of our team and stakeholders to optimize what we do and how we do it.

We are an agile, asynchronous team with flexible work schedules, autonomy, and a culture of accountability. We challenge ourselves to humanize and democratize work in our own organization and are always eager to experiment with different ways of working and practices.
Our Philosophy
The business world can be compared to a forest ecosystem. This ecosystem is composed of different organizations (trees) that are interdependent and interconnected through partnerships and business exchanges, whereas in nature, trees are linked through an underground symbiotic plant-microbe system. There are trees of all shapes and sizes, as there are also organizations of all sorts and dimensions.
Each organization is a unique tree of its own with a structural anchorage – the roots – and a single self-supporting trunk that leads to secondary limbs, the branches. When the tree is well-nurtured, it produces fruits.
With this idea in mind, we have created a framework that helps organizations design and define themselves. This clarity cultivates coherence and consistency between the different parts of the business, allowing for a better alignment across the whole organization

- Roots – The core principles and values that guide the organization. It also represents how the organization is integrated into the whole business ecosystem with its mission, purpose, and vision.
- Trunk – The principles and values of the roots can only become visible when fully integrated/connected with leadership. The leadership should breathe them and make them come to life as so does a trunk, the support, and the main drive of the whole (organizational) structure.
- Branches – The branches represent the practices, approaches, and tactics that are implemented across the business. These are in alignment with the principles of the roots and are devised and applied according to the leadership style (and organizational structure) that flows from the trunk.
- Fruits – This is the output that results from the practices and tactics you apply in the branches. They, therefore, showcase the work done in all the previous areas. When fruits are not growing hearty, a reassessment and restructuring of operations need to be made.
So, if, for example, sustainability is a core principle for an organization, in its trunk the organization will be structured in a way that integrates a circular economy model. Every practice in the branches will take it into account, and the organization will, for example, avoid the use of nonrenewable resources and promote the use of renewable ones. As a consequence – the fruit – these actions will attract stakeholders that share the same values of sustainability and help promote the brand in a particular niche. Take Patagonia as a great example: Their root principle of sustainability is present in every goal and action carried out in the business.
We ourselves adopt this framework to understand where we, as an organization and business, contribute and are integrated into the whole business ecosystem to more efficiently make clear and aligned business decisions.

organisation worried about budget, we may be able to help out.
The Great Shift offers full and partial scholarships. Interested parties must fill up a
scholarship application form. The application process consists of written and
video submissions to help the Great Shift team evaluate which type of scholarship
to be awarded to the applicant.
